Barrier potential for laser written graphitic wires in diamond

Diamond substrates supporting an internal array of conductive graphitic wires inscribed by a femtosecond pulse laser, are useful for the detection ionising radiation in range applications. Various parameters involved laser fabrication process were investigated this paper to understand their impact on electrical properties wires. The study revealed effect, whereby exhibit insulating behaviour until barrier potential is overcome. When high enough voltages applied, display ohmic behaviour. magnitude potential, which some cases exceeds 300 V, shown be strongly dependent parameters. Through optimisation, may minimised and effectively removed, coinciding with reduced values wire resistance.
